Shenandoah Unit Meetings
- The Healing Touch practice group meets monthly, Sept. thru May, the third Tuesday of each month at Trinity Presbyterian Church at the corner of S. High St. and Maryland Ave. in Harrisonburg from 7:30 to 9:00 p.m. Open to those with any level of Healing Touch training. Bring a table if possible. The members have become a cohesive group with mini-practices in between regular sessions for those going for certification

Meeting Notes:
(these are informal as we do not currently have a recording secretary)
In attendance were Crystal Carpenter, Tracy Wolfe, Glenn Hakey, Tami Gouchenour, Nancy Stellar, and myself
Handouts of the agenda, the unit calender, unit vacancy descriptions, and the award nomination list were passed out to everyone.
The Treasurer’s report was read, in brief we have $457.06 in the unit account.
The Va State Conference in brief, will tentatively be held on October 26th at the Holiday Inn University Area and Conference Center, on Emmet Street in Charlottesville, Va. Three presenters are being considered with a reasonably priced variety of classes in ethics and techniques. There was some enthusiasm expressed because of the location.
Nominations for awards are open to ALL members and due to me at millerhs@shentel.net by April 10.
In order to provide for a more centrally located meeting place for the Unit I was referred to Shirley Kirkwood re: ties to Bridgewater College, which I have yet to follow up on. I also have been referred to the Director via email. More on that later. VMRC was also discussed as another option.
Formation of a “Contact Committee” was tabled for now as all four counties were not represented at this meeting and we didn’t have a quorum.
Deni Brown Has a “Healing Touch” workshop monthly @ the Trinity Presbyterian Church (per Nancy Stellar) and I am interested in establishing a Neuromuscular Reeducation Workshop.
Ferdinand Poulan was also discussed as another possibility for practitioners, should one step forward and express a desire to host a study group. All Study groups will be posted on the Unit web page on the state web site for member reference. More on this later.
Unit Board meetings will now be held by teleconference, so commuting will not be a hindrance to the advancement of the Unit. So if the thought of having to leave work early and drive to attend an executive meeting has been holding you back from running for office. We are now ONLY A PHONE CALL AWAY! ;)
Everyone who attended this meeting received a Healing Connections tote bag with samples and a new VA-AMTA pin with the Cardinal. Crystal Carpenter won the Drawing for a free issue of Herbal Companion. Pics to follow!
