Coffee Fusion
Historically the Virginia Chapter had six “units”, or local subdivisions of the Chapter. Each Unit had its own elected Board of Directors that planned activities for its members. These activities included networking events, educational meetings, social events, sports massage activities, Massage Awareness Week events and other community outreach activities and continuing education workshops.
In the past ten years, as our membership has changed, all of the units have become inactive. The Virginia Chapter is in the process of finding new ways to bring members together. In the meantime the Virginia Chapter Standing Rules have not been changed and still contain the unit structure.
The goal is:
Membership Outreach
Create a network of massage therapists that extends from the northern corner to the southwestern tip of Virginia, from the Shenandoah mountains to the Tidewater. Support community among members throughout Virginia, helping them connect as massage therapists, as AMTA members, and as members of the Virginia Chapter in the areas in which they live.
To achieve that goal the Chapter is now hosting “Fusion Coffees”.
What is a Fusion Coffee?
It is a chance to get to know and network with other members, to exchange information about massage, and to keep up on AMTA events and news. You can also chill with other local practitioners close to home.
10 Easy Steps to Make It Happen:
Step 1: You wake up and decide, “I want to get together with my peers.”
Step 2: Pick a date and time.
Step 3: Pick a location – someone’s home/office, a coffee house, or the public library are possible venues
Step 4: Contact Bernie Binns with specifics at 2ndvp@amtava.org or (571) 268-4990.
Step 5: Receive a packet of giveaways and info about current AMTA event, as well as details about Fusion coffees.
Step 6: Confirm you have the package.
Step 7: The Communications Group sends the e-mail blast to the membership.
Step 8: Hold the Fusion Coffee.
Step 9: Have all attendees sign in. This list should be sent to Bernie Binns.
Step 10: Have fun and grow.
