Launch of New Student Recruitment Center
Dear Student Recruitment Designees,
I am happy to announce the Student Recruitment Center is now available. This section of the website will be very useful in helping you prepare to recruit new students to AMTA in your state.
The Student Recruitment Center has many great resources for you to use. Everything from sample phone scripts and presentation outlines to a benefits list and presenter evaluations are available. The Student Recruitment Center also includes video tips from the first ever Student Recruitment Designee Training held last year at the National Office during the week of CVOP.
You can also find on this page the all important SRD Manual in pdf format ready for download, as well as, a Discussion Forum where you can share ideas with other SRDs across the country. And, if there are any questions that you have that are not answered in the center, there is a link to email me directly.
The Student Recruitment Center can be found on the AMTA website through the Chapter Center. Look for the link labeled Student Recruitment Center. Here is a direct link to the page so that you may take a look at it right now: Student Recruitment Center
If you have any questions regarding the site or would like to offer any suggestions to make it more user friendly, please do not hesitate to contact me either via phone 877.905.2700 x131 or email: mmitchell@amtamassage.org. I look forward to hearing from you.

New Esthetician Licensing – How does it affect CMTs?
Certified Massage Therapists providing facials, wraps, and other skin therapies may need to get an Esthetician license to continue those treatments in their practices. CMTs will have until June 30, 2008 to apply for a license as an esthetician using the grandfather provision. This allows you to get the license without having to comply with the education and training laws governing estheticians. Read the document below written by the Virginia AMTA lobbyist Becky Bowers-Lanier and decide if you need to pursue the esthetician licensing. Applications for licensure may be found at http://www.dpor.virginia.gov/dporweb/bnc_form.cfm.

Board Votes Not to Raise Fees
The Virginia Chapter Board voted this year not to change the fee charged to become a Chapter Member. This fee is paid with your AMTA membership fee each year. The fee will continue to be $20. The Board is able to vote on this issue during each even year and therefore will not vote on it again until 2010.
